Associate Attorney Stephen Matheny offers skilled and reliable representation for all Maritime personal injury and personal injury services. Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Stephen attended California State University of Chico where he obtained a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Theatrical Arts. Stephen was intimately involved in student government as he served as Vice President of the University’s Interfraternity Council. In his Senior year he served as President of Pi Kappa Alpha where he organized multiple philanthropic events and fundraisers geared towards assisting underprivileged members of his local community.
Thereafter he attended Loyola University, New Orleans College of Law on the heralded Dean Scholarship. Stephen received the highest-grade award in Legal Writing and Research, and Torts. In New Orleans, he developed an interest in Maritime law. Stephen served as a Citation Editor for the Loyola Maritime Law Journal where he wrote scholastic articles regarding international arbitration and edited articles written by others. He clerked in Miami during the Summer of his second year of law school and fell in love with the community. He decided to test his luck in South Florida after graduating near the top of his class with Cum Laude distinction.
Stephen scored in the top 2 percentile of all MPRE test takers and top 10 percentile of all Florida Bar test takers. As an associate at Gerson & Schwartz, he uses a combination of his training in the Theatrical Arts, his advanced legal writing and research skills, and his remarkable worth ethic to provide clients prolific legal representation under the stewardship of the well-respected partners and senior associates.
