The Brightline high speed trains in South Florida began test runs in 2017. The train line, which stops in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach, began service in May 2018. Since then, Brightline has been sold to Virgin Group and renamed Virgin Trains USA. MiamiCentral, the Miami train station, has been renamed Virgin MiamiCentral.
Virgin Trains stop in downtown Fort Lauderdale at the Fort Lauderdale station, which consists of two tracks and one platform. The station is located on NW 2nd Avenue, between Broward Boulevard and NW 4th Street. Passengers can easily transfer to Broward County Transit’s Central Terminal there.
It takes approximately 30 minutes to reach Fort Lauderdale from Miami. The journey between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach is slightly longer at approximately 40 minutes.

The Virgin Train line in South Florida has been associated with accidents and fatalities from the start, when it was known as the Brightline. As of November 2018, the train line was involved with 10 fatalities.
The underlying cause of Virgin Train accidents vary greatly. In some of these tragedies, the pedestrian victim committed suicide, and some individuals were under the influence of drugs or alcohol. In other circumstances, pedestrians misjudged the speed and distance of the train. This is all too easy to do as the Virgin Train can reach speeds of 79 mph. Several other incidents have involved motorists and have led to severe injuries.
In some circumstances, pedestrians or motorists are fully or partly at fault. However, many train accidents are the result of negligent conduct by a train company or railroad employee. Train and rail companies have a legal duty to main a safe mode of transportation for their passengers. When they fail to do this, they may be liable for injuries and fatalities resulting from their employees’ negligence.Train and Railroad Employee Negligence can Cause Serious Accidents
